Books Read in Jan

*Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society  ~ loved this book,  written in letters and therefore multiple viewpoints, so interesting.

*Prairie Tale ~ Melissa Gilbert's memoir ~ I very good informative read.

Sad I only read two full books

I have, however, started

Jerusalem, The City of God ~ also an intriguing book

I also have Crazy Love to read for my book club in Feb.

Joel Rosenberg

In the last week I have read four of the five books Joel Rosenberg has written in his political thriller series.

The Last Jihad

The Last Days

The Ezekiel Option and

The Copper Scroll

The last two took less than a day each to read.  (of course that is staying up until 2am reading on each day but still).  I would describe these books as Left Behind meets Tom Clancy pulled right out of the newspaper headlines.  While Left Behind, which I did enjoy for it's story line, concentrates on the prophesies in Revelation, Rosenberg concentrates on the prophesies in Ezekiel and Daniel and the events that will happen before many of those told of in Revelation.

They were good,  I have the last one on order.  Or will have as soon as payday rolls around.

LOL

It has been six months since I posted.  I am so bad at this.  But things are looking up.  I am out for the summer and not going back in the fall.  I will have time to read, read, read.  Hopefully.

I have read several books this year but don't have the names  to all of them. So I will just list the two I do know and then what I am reading right now.

Candle in the Darkness - by Lynn Austin

The Last Jihad - by Joel Rosenberg

and currently The Last Days also by Rosenberg

What's on the Nightstand

Okay so I actually shelve books two deep on the bottom shelf of my nightstand - a custom built one by my grandfather for my book loving father, who passed it down to me - so I won't actually list those. But I will attempt to list those that are in the two, yes two, stacks on the floor beside my bed for easy access.

Three devotionals I am working through a little at a time:
Immanrel - Praying the Names of God through the Christmas Season by Ann Spangler
He Shall be Called - 150 Names of Jesus and What They Mean to You by Robert J Morgan
Who Am I In Christ - Neil T Anderson

Messie No More - by Sandra Felton --- yeah I really need to get into that one!
Ten Minutes from Normal - by Karen Hughes -- I am really liking this one - just have so much other stuff to do to really concentrate on it
Esther - By Charles Swindoll - one I haven't started yet
Fascinating Stories of Forgotten Lives: Rediscovering Some Old Testament Characters - by Charles Swindoll -- this one I really like.

There are more but they are there because I haven't found a place for them.

Challenge Anyone?

Becky at AtoZ Challenge has issued the challenge to read from A to Z.  Like Dana I am choosing Option C - reading both authors and titles from A to Z for a total of 52 books -- it matches my  goal of one book a week!  I figured I might as well have a direction from which to pick my books.

Stealing from Leann

Okay so I completely screwed up my other book blog. So I started another one over here.  But I am stealing from Leann's goal for this year. I will read 52 books - not including texts for school, this year from my own stacks or from PaperBackSwap.com - Our online book club offers free books when you swap, trade, or exchange your used books with other book club members for free.  I will attempt to at least keep a running list on this blog of the books that I have read.
